What a fun class!! WONDERLAND

9584Wednesday was my 1st Christmas card class.  What fun we had!  We did a Gift Card holder and two Christmas cards.

Here is one of the cards we made.  We used the Wonderland stamp set and the Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper.

I love this tree set and the coordinating DSP.

I plan on trying this same card using different papers in the collection just to see how different it looks.

Waiting for the Brown truck and playing!!

UPS tuck

I received a notice that the UPS truck is coming today!! Of course, it's probably not going to be for another 7 hours or so.  I always get excited to see him pull up to our house, even though I KNOW I ordered something and know what it is.  It's just fun getting packages.

Today he is bringing me some extra supplies for a class I am doing on Wednesday and a few things for my next class.  Can't wait to tear into the box of goodies.

Here is a card I worked on over the weekend.  I saw it on another blog and wanted to try and recreate it.  I know she does wonders with a brayer, but I wanted to see what I could do with sponging.

It's not even close to what she does, with a brayer, but I think it turned out ok!!

Then, last night, I was watching YouTube and I came across a video that showed HOW to do the brayering for this exact card.  It was by another gal, can't recall her name right now but she gave the colors that were used on the card.  I wasn't too far off........so I will be trying those colors next.

I love the new Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder in the holiday catalog.  You can basically emboss your card stock, and do little more and you have a great card.  But it's also fun to sponge it, brayer it  and add other elements to it.  FUN!!!! FUN!!!

Now, I need to get my instructions typed up for my class.

Have a fantastic day!!!

Signo Gel Pens

I have a love/hate relationship with Gel Pens.
I think the reason is, I don't use them often enough to keep the ink flowing and so they clog up and then I end up throwing them away.
This morning, I decided to look online to see if there was a solution for clogged up Gel Pens.
I like using my uni-ball Signo Gel Pen (available here). I have found that the uni-ball Signo Gel Pen, available through Stampin' Up!, gives me the brightest white color.
I love using it to add highlights to different images (like snow on trees) and also to write on the inside of a card made with dark card stock.
But, it is so frustrating when I pick one up to use it and it doesn't work properly.  Clogging seems to be an industry wide issue with gel pens, especially if not used regularly.  If your pen has sat unused for any length of time and has clogged, do not throw it away!  You might be able to get it working again.
Methods to unclog your white uni-ball Signo Gel Pen:
  1. Run the tip of the gel pen under hot water or dip the tip into boiling water briefly.
  2. Rub the tip with rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball (alcohol wipes are watered down and might not work as well).
  3. Pass the tip of the pen just above the flame of a lighter, candle or match to soften the ink.
After each of these methods, scribble on a piece of scrap paper to break the roller ball free.  Once the ink flows freely again you are ready to go.
I followed all three of those tips with no luck!  BUT, I am too stubborn to actually throw anything away when there might still be a solution!
So, what did I do?  I took the pens (yes, that's right, I had two of these that were not working) apart and then, I cut off the end of the plastic tube that holds the ink....inserted a paper clip that I had straightened out and I pushed the ink out into a little empty embellishment container.  (do you throw these away after they are empty? Hopefully not)
I haven't tried to use the ink yet and not sure how I will do it...with a fine tip brush or something?  But, I couldn't just throw the ink away.  I'll be sure to let you know how it turned out.
Remember, to use your Signo Gel Pen, OFTEN, to keep it flowing.
Here are some tips to get the best results from your Signo Gel Pen:
1.  Write gently.  Pressing too hard can mess with the ink flow around the ball of the roller pen.
2.  Remember that there is a short drying time, so to prevent smudging, let your project sit a little bit.
3.  Last but not least, remember to use your pen regularly to avoid clogging!
Hope this helps!!
Have a Great day and take some time to PawsNStamp!

It's RAINING....it's POURING.....the old man

well, he's still asleep but he's not snoring ;-)

Oh gosh, that sound is heavenly after such a L O N G dry spell!!!  We NEED the rain so badly with all these wildfires...but, I think it was a tad late.  But, hopefully it will wet the ground down good!!!  Actually, Oregon is in a drought and we NEED rain badly but not all at once, that wouldn't be good, either.  Still, the sound is wonderful!!

Today, I want to share with you the new glue that SU just came out with.

It's called the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  I LOVE it!!  It's great for gluing down those tiny objects like sequins and to get into tiny places...like the Spider Web Doilies. No more getting globs of glue on something and then smearing it all over your project.

It has a tiny little end so that just the right amount of glue comes out.  You just have to be sure to get the 'needle' top back into the hole to keep it from drying out.  I find it works best if you lay it down, like in the photo, and then line up your needle top to the hole in the glue pen.

Yesterday, I was working on some Christmas cards, for class, and I needed to put one of the Snowflake Elements onto a card.  Knowing that these little cuties are made from light wood and fairly intricate, I needed a fine line of glue.  Out came my glue pen.  After adding the glue, I let it sit for just a few seconds and then added them to my project.   No glue seeping out from underneath....no mess.  YEAH!!!!
Snowflake Elements by Stampin' Up!

It's also great to use with all those intricate punched out die cuts!!

At just $7, the Fine Tip Glue Pen is a real time saver!!

You can visit my 24/7 online store HERE.

If you missed my post yesterday on Tuesday's Weekly Deals, check them out HERE

The Butterflies Thinlits Dies are only $18.75 this week.  I use these dies a LOT!!!  Also, if you have been wanting to get the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies, they are $10 off this week!!

Hope you have a Fantastic day and are getting some crafting in!!!  The Holidays are just around the corner!

Another WAG done for another year!

Well, it has come and gone!!!  The much anticipated yearly get together, that I organize, over in Salem called WAG.  It stands for Western Angel Gathering and it was started back in 2003 when I decided to have a little mini gathering because some of the Angels couldn't attend Seminar in Kansas City, MO.  I thought that they should also have an opportunity to get together with other demonstrators and just have fun and learn new things.

Our first two years we held it in Kennewick, WA and then moved it to Salem, OR where it's been ever since.

The Angel Company went out of business in 2011 but we decided that we still wanted to get together on a yearly basis so we have continued our yearly gathering.  Some of us have gone on to other stamp companies and some do not sell for any stamp company.  It's not about any of that.  We just like to come together and share ideas, have fun and SHOP!!!  And, boy do we shop!!!  They are all very good enablers!!!

This year there were 9 of us.  That is the lowest number we have ever had but there were those that just couldn't attend this year and we missed them!!!

We normally each bring a shoe box project but this year, I decided to just have everyone bring projects that they had been working on.  Some were working on Halloween cards, some were working on various projects that they needed completed and one gal worked on her Christmas stocking for her 2 year old Son.

We always have challenges, games, and food to snack on.  AND, we always set aside time to go shopping at all the craft stores in Salem.  This year, we included Albany's Hobby Lobby.

I have challenges for them to do.  This year I had them alter 5 x 5 magnets, make a card using stickers from the Dollar Tree, and alter a small fat notebook, also from the Dollar Tree....plus I had a bunch of 'stuff' and they were asked to make a card using some of that 'stuff'.  They came through like the artists that they are!!

Here are a couple of the magnets that they did.  Now, mind you, the magnets were a calendar from a business from 2003.....so they were covering it.

This gal covered the magnet with paper and then stamped a Tim Holtz bird and the words.

We had bought some cute calendars at the Dollar Tree and one of the gals attached that to the Magnet after covering it with paper.  Cute idea!!!

One of the gals decorated the front of the fat notebook.   There were a lot of cute ones but somehow I didn't manage to get photos of any of the rest of them.  :-(

All in all we had a great time chatting, playing and shopping!!!  It seemed like it was over way too fast!!!   And, it was time to say our goodbyes and head for home!!

Now to start planning next year's event!!

Have a fantastic day!!!

Holiday Catalog is here!!

Yes, that's right!  Yesterday was the launching of SU's new holiday catalog and no, I didn't miss it....but it was hubby's birthday so some things take precedence.

I have already started using my items that I pre-ordered and I wanted to share with you 5 things that I am most excited about. First, though, here is a look at the new holiday catalog just in case you haven't seen it yet.
After you have checked it out, let me know what your favorite thing/s are.
Spider Web Doilies by Stampin' Up!
Spider Web Doilies
These are so much fun to use.  They come in a package of 24 and are 4 3/4" so a nice size to cover your card/package or whatever you are using them for.
Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!
Home for Christmas DSP

This is such a great selection of designer papers.  You can't see it really clear but there is a 'Bambi' like print, Poinsettia, holly, Santa, and music sheet.....so diversified that it will appeal to a lot of people.

The next share is actually two items....a stamp set called "Jingle all the Way" and Edgelits to match called "Sleigh Ride".  You can either buy them separately or in a bundle (clear mount or wood mount)

Jingle All the Way Clear-Mount Bundle by Stampin' Up!

There are actually 16 bundles in the Holiday Catalog, this year.  Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

Another bundle is called "Happy Scenes" and I like it because there are Fall scenes and winter scenes including Christmas.

Happy Scenes Photopolymer Bundle by Stampin' Up!

I haven't even used this set, yet, as I have been having way too much fun with the Spider Web Doilies.

Fine-Tip Glue Pen by Stampin' Up!

Last but definitely not least, is the fine tip glue pen.  This is incredibly handy for gluing down sequins and getting into those tiny spaces (like the spider web).

Now, that is by no means the end of what I like in the catalog.  I just tried to choose something from each category.  I may change my mind about some of the sets once I get to using them.  And, there are some that I just wasn't able to get during the pre order but will definitely be getting them soon.

I did get the Festive Fireplace and Festive Fireside bundle and cannot wait till I have time to play with those!!

Have a fun time looking through the catalog and let me know what you chose as your favorites!!

Have a great day!!!
